Windows 95 Dial-Up Networking Setup
| Editing the Properties of Your New Connection
Now that you've created your connection, you need to change a couple things in it so that it will connect porperly to TNETS. Once you've created the connection, you should find yourself at the Dial-Up Networking window with at least two icons. One of the icons will be entitled TNETS. Make sure that your TNETS icon is highlighted like in the picture to the right. If it isn't, click once on the icon with your left mouse button. If it is highlighted, either go to File and under that menu select Properties or simply click once with the right mouse button to bring up a small menu and then click once with the left mouse button on Properties.

| The General Tab
Now you are in the properties window and on the General tab, you should check to make sure that the number is correct and that you have the proper modem under the Connect Using area. If you do not know if it's the proper modem, it most likely is. Now you should find the Server Types tab. In older computers this may appear next to the Configure button as opposed to being a tab at the top, like in the picture.

| TCP/IP Settings
It's very simple to configure these. Just make sure that Server Assigned IP Address and Server Assigned Name Server Addresses both had dots next to them. You can leave the DNS and WINS settings alone, as you will not be able to edit them. It is also very important to make sure that both of the options at the bottom are checked, especcially Use default gateway on remote network. Once you've put that information in, simply click OK on all the windows until you're back to the Dial-Up Networking window. You can close this window by clicking in the upper right hand corner on the X Click Here to continue setting up your connection |
